A few good news stories coming out of the efforts we had from last year’s resolutions.  The NDAA 2015 saw a few of our efforts become law.

National Resolution (NR) 14-04 (Increasing the Unspecified Minor Military Construction (UMMC) threshold), NR 14-05 (Establishment of an Independent Commission on the Structure of the Army), NR 14-08 (Elevate the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau to same status as other Senior Enlisted Advisors on the Joint Chiefs of Staff) all were accomplished with the President signing the bill into law.

NR 14-06 (Allow the Chief of the National Guard Bureau (CNGB) to Nominate Directors and Deputy Directors of Army and Air National Guard)  also saw progress with the NDAA 2015.  The NDAA 2015 didn’t go as far as we were asking, to allow the Chief to pick his on Directors, however, the law now does direct the Service Branch Secretary to consult the CNGB on the decision.

Also, NR 14-02 has seen some progress as the National Office is will be working to make that happen in the coming year, once a few of the other positions that are currently vacant are hired. NR 14-07 also got a direct response from the Secretary of Defense after several congressmen penned a letter asking him to answer for why they have yet to implement the law that was part of the NDAA 2013.  Unfortunately, the DOD has still not fixed the issue, but there are lots of eyes on it.
